  • Grant Park

    The grant park is a vast area of about 319 acres in Chicago. The most notable feature in the grant park is the Buckingham fountain and the art institute of Chicago.  It is also reffered sometimes as the front yard of the chicago city. On the north side of the park is the  Randolph Street and to the south it is bordered by McFetridge drive. To the west of the park there is Michigan Avenue and to the east of the park there is a beautiful view of Lake Michigan.

    The foundations of the park were laid on April 24 1844 the area was named as the Lake Park. For many years sine 1844 it has hosted many festivals and has remained a key area of one of the biggest festivals in Chicago. American musical festival Lollapalooza is to be staged in the grant park in 2011. Grant park also hosts the Chicago marathon. It is the starting and the end point of the marathon.

    The park has an area of about 10 acres. There are 12 tennis courts in the park and 16 soft ball fields. Courts and fields are open for the general public. The most interesting thing in the park are the trails. It has many shaded trails for walk and also has a lake shore trail. There is also a museum situated within the boundaries of the grant park.
